Frequently Asked Questions

Questions about your next project? Here are a few common questions you may have regarding our processes and services.

  • How do I go about getting an estimate?

We suggest you use our online estimate request form located at www.chromaprints.com. Otherwise, give us a call at 707-528-2644 and speak with one of our customer service representatives.

  • How long will it take to complete my order?

We go to great lengths to meet your most stringent demands. Our normal turnaround time is 7-10 working days for offset printing. Schedules for digital printing vary based on the complexity of the project. Please call and describe the details of your project and we will do our best to give you an idea of how much time we need to produce it.

  • What is a proof?

A proof is a way of ensuring that we have set your type accurately and that everything is positioned according to your requirements. We will produce a proof for every job. You can request a digital proof, sent to your computer, or a hard proof so you can check the accuracy of your project. It is ultimately the responsibility of the client to ensure the proof is exactly what they have submitted and file translations have been accurate.

  • Why do I need to look at a proof if I’ve already given you everything I need to have done?

Your approval on the final proof is assurance that you have looked over every aspect of our work and approve it as accurate. It benefits everyone if errors are caught in the proofing process rather than after the job is completed and delivered. Sometimes during file translations, fonts reflow, copy is missing, you will need to double check this.

  • Do I still need to approve a proof if I bring my work in on disk?

Output devices process digital information using a variety of processing languages. Your approval of the proof which we will provide assures that the output device used has correctly interpreted and processed the information you have provided.

  • What is a press check?

OA press check is the final stage of any print design job. It's that critical stage where a client or designer works with us on-site to make sure that every aspect of the print run goes according to plan. It's a time to make sure your job matches every details of your foundation. Color looks different from a swatch to the paper you print it on. Using your matchprint or proof, you will work with your representative to ensure the quality of your piece and the accuracy of color. Color is subjective. It's your job to look at the press sheets under a foundationized light in a light box and make the best call you can. Color calls aside, making sure the inks lay down flat, with no specs or hairs or broken type and perfect registration, is where accuracy is called for.
